Qatar Cabinet Welcomes Results of Qatari-Saudi Coordination Council Meeting

Doha: HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani chaired the Cabinet’s regular meeting on Wednesday morning at the Amiri Diwan. Following the meeting, HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi stated the following:

According to Qatar News Agency, at the outset of the meeting, the Cabinet welcomed the results of the 8th meeting of the Qatari-Saudi Coordination Council, held on Monday in Riyadh. The meeting was co-chaired by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

The Cabinet affirmed that the historical relations between Qatar and Saudi Arabia have advanced to a new stage, as indicated in the joint statement issued at the conclusion of the Coordination Council meeting. The statement emphasized the importance of continued support and development in areas such as political, security, military, energy, industry, economy, investment, trade, technology, infrastructure, culture, tourism, and education. The goal is to meet the aspirations of the two peoples and support security, peace, and prosperity in the region.

The Cabinet praised the agreements and memoranda of understanding signed during the meeting, which aim to open new horizons for strategic partnership between the two countries. Of particular note is the agreement to link Doha and Riyadh by high-speed electric train, a strategic initiative consistent with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 and Saudi Arabia Vision 2030. This initiative is expected to facilitate movement, trade, and communication between the two nations.

On another note, the Cabinet commended the success of the 23rd Doha Forum 2025, inaugurated by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. The forum, attended by various high-level delegates, focused on the theme “Justice in Action: Beyond Promises to Progress.” It featured high-level dialogue sessions addressing regional and international issues, reflecting Qatar’s diplomatic approach that promotes dialogue and peaceful solutions.

The Cabinet also welcomed the signing of a historic peace and economic agreement between the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Rwanda in Washington. This agreement, facilitated by Qatar and the United States, aims to end the conflict in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo and enhance regional stability.

Furthermore, the Cabinet welcomed the “Doha Agreement to Reinforce the Commitment to Peace” signed by Colombia and the self-declared EGC following mediation efforts in Doha. The agreement aims to alleviate civilian suffering and build sustainable peace.

The Cabinet then considered various agenda items, including approving a draft decision to prioritize national products in government procurement, and establishing a committee to manage the International Telecommunication Union Plenipotentiary Conference 2026 preparations.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved draft memorandums of understanding for cooperation in education and training with Hungary and Somalia.

The meeting concluded with discussions on three reports, focusing on recent diplomatic visits and participations, and decisions were made accordingly.
