Mexico City:The State of Qatar and the United Mexican States held the third round of political consultations between their foreign ministries, focusing on enhancing bilateral cooperation, trade, and investment.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari delegation was led by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, while Mexico's delegation was headed by Secretary of Foreign Affairs Roberto Velasco Alvarez.
Discussions centered on strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in trade and investment, and supporting programs related to the Qatar-Mexico 2026 Year of Culture. The delegations also exchanged views on regional developments and ongoing dialogue on mediation between the two countries.
The consultations included discussions on cooperation with Switzerland and Norway to promote preventive diplomacy, mediation, and peaceful dispute resolution.
Concluding the talks, Qatar and Mexico signed an agreement waiving visa requirements for holders of diplomatic, official, and special passports. Additionally, they signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in diplomatic training and education.
