Doha: An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale struck Qinghai Province in northwest China Tuesday.

According to Qatar News Agency, the China Earthquake Networks Center reported that the quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, at 35.35 degrees north latitude and 99.57 degrees east longitude.

China is frequently struck by earthquakes and strong tremors, particularly in the mountainous regions of the west.
