Projects implemented under Bahrain’s National Human Rights Plan 2022-2026 highlighted

The General Directorate of Legal Affairs and Human Rights at the Foreign Affairs Ministry has reviewed, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing at the Interior Ministry, the achievements of Bahrain’s ‘National Human Rights Plan 2022-2026’.

The progress of the implementation of the plan was highlighted during the symposium organised by the Arab Human Rights Committee (Charter Committee), which oversees the implementation of the Arab Charter on Human Rights, at the Arab League’s headquarters on the sidelines of the review of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s second periodic report on human rights.

Nawar Al Mutawa, the Human Rights Advisor at the Foreign Affairs Ministry, highlighted the kingdom’s efforts in the field of human rights through the projects implemented under the National Human Rights Plan 2022-2026.

He said that as many as 64 out of the plan’s 102 projects have been implemented since the inauguration of the plan two years ago. He provided full statis
tical details and specific measurement indicators related to the 64 projects that have been implemented so far. He also linked the projects with the goals and objectives of sustainable development, as well as the recommendations issued during the Universal Periodic Review of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The participants in the symposium commended Bahrain’s efforts to protect human rights, and praised the projects that have been implemented so far as part of the National Human Rights Plan 2022-2026. They also underscored the importance of disseminating the kingdom’s experience in implementing its National Plan across the Arab world.

Senior officials from the Arab League Secretariat General, representatives of the delegations of Arab countries to the Arab League, and as well as press and media personnel in Egypt attended.
