Penal and Correctional Institutions Directorate at Ministry of Interior Celebrates Graduation of Digital Manufacturing Courses

The Directorate of Penal and Correctional Institutions at the Ministry of Interior celebrated Tuesday the graduation of digital manufacturing courses and art workshops organized by the Directorate and implemented by the Qatar Red Crescent, the Qatar Scientific Club and the Fire Department, with the participation of a number inmates of the Directorate of Penal and Correctional Institutions.

Major General Nasser Mohammed Al Sayed, Director of the Directorate of Penal and Correctional Institutions at the Ministry of Interior, underlined the importance of such courses that contribute to developing the skills of male and female inmates and harnessing their creative abilities and talents to open new doors for them after their release.

He noted that the Directorate of Penal and Correctional Institutions firmly believes in preparing and rehabilitating inmates, and dedicates its mission to care and reform.

The Director thanked the partners who supported this project, most notably the Qatar Red Crescent, the Qatar S
cientific Club, and the Fire Department, as well as all entities that provide their services to care for inmates and return them to being good members of society.

For his part, Major Bakhit Abdullah Al Baridi, Head of the Care and Rehabilitation Directorate, said that holding these courses and workshops comes within the framework of achieving the departments goals to train inmates, noting that the trainees were trained in 3D digital design, laser printing, and manufacturing models, in addition to artistic drawing and embroidery.

In this context, HE Secretary-General of the Qatar Red Crescent Faisal Mohammed Al Emadi, stressed the importance of recognizing the value and importance of partnership, expressing his thanks to the management of penal and correctional institutions for their cooperation and great support, in addition to the efforts of the Ministry of Sports and Youth represented by the Qatar Scientific Club, which designed and equipped the digital manufacturing workshops and trained the inmates.

He
said that the volunteering and development sector of the Red Crescent works diligently to provide distinguished services to the community through its various programs and projects, including the project to rehabilitate inmates of penal and correctional institutions.

For his part, HE Managing Director of the Qatar Scientific Club Sheikh Ali bin Salman Al-Thani, praised the cooperation with the Qatar Red Crescent and the management of penal and correctional institutions, which resulted in enabling inmates to use modern digital technologies such as 3D printers and laser cutting devices, which provides them with a new source of livelihood after the participants obtain a technical diploma in digital manufacturing accredited by one of the international institutions specialized in this field.

He said that he hoped to see them productive in workplaces that are worthy of the level they have reached. Obtaining this certificate does not mean the end of the road, as plans are in place to qualify other groups on the sam
e path, as we have already begun implementing a new qualification programme, he added. (QNA)
