Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh discussed, on Wednesday with European Union Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process Sven Koopmans, ways to revive political process to solve the Palestinian cause and the application of the two-state solution.
Meanwhile, Shtayyeh said there is a desperate need for acting immediately to safeguard the two-state solution as the Israeli occupation government is pushing the national authority towards collapse and destroying the possibility of establishing the Palestinian state, reiterating his call on EU to ramp up pressure on the occupation government to conduct elections in Jerusalem.
Elections in Palestine is a national priority, a prelude to end division and a strategy to maintain the Palestinian political system, Shtayyeh emphasized.
For his part, Koopmans briefed Palestinian Prime Minister on his efforts devoted to reviving Arab peace initiative and putting it on the table to be a pillar of permanent solution with the engagement of various international parties.
