Ramallah, Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, discussed in a phone conversation with President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the latest developments on the Palestinian stage, along with the developments in the ongoing efforts to halt the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people, protect civilians from scourges of war, as well as the importance of getting relief, medical and food items into Palestine and providing water and electricity as soon as possible.
During the conversation, Abbas said targeting civilians in hospitals and demolishing buildings on their inhabitants are brutal crimes that cannot be tolerated, stressing the importance of finding a political solution for the Palestinian people based on international legitimacy to regain their freedom, independence, and sovereignty, adding that this would ensure security and stability for all in the region.
For her part, President of the European Commission underscored the European Union’s unwavering position to support the two-state solution, pointing out that humanitarian assistance would be increased in these challenging conditions.
