Yasuf:The Palestinian Foreign Ministry has called for urgent international action to protect Palestinians and halt what it describes as "terrorism" by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank.
According to Qatar News Agency, the ministry issued a statement urging global institutions to meet their legal and moral obligations by implementing accountability measures against those committing crimes and those supporting them.
The statement advocated for sanctions against settlement leaders and settlers, a prohibition on dealings with settlements and related entities, and constraints on the entry of settlement products into global markets. The ministry also called for the application of universal jurisdiction and steps towards ending the Israeli occupation to establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
This appeal followed an attack by settlers, reportedly supported by Israeli forces, on the village of Yasuf, east of Salfit, in the occupied West Bank. The attack resulted in the death of a Palestinian man and injuries to another, highlighting what the ministry described as clear coordination between settlers and Israeli forces, which it deemed a serious violation of international law and humanitarian principles.
