Islamabad: Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif discussed in a phone call Tuesday, escalating tensions between his country and India with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

According to Qatar News Agency, during the call, the Pakistani Prime Minister commended the efforts of the UN Secretary-General and welcomed his call for calm.

For his part, Guterres expressed concern about the level of tension, calling on both sides to exercise restraint and avoid confrontation.
