OIC Welcomes UNGA Resolution Demanding End of Israel Occupation

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed a United Nations General Assembly resolution demanding Israel end its unlawful presence and dismantle its illegal settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory within 12 months.

An OIC statement said the resolution reflects the international consensus on the justice of the Palestinian cause and its firm support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent and sovereign state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with Jerusalem as its capital.

The OIC called on all states to assume their responsibilities and take individual and collective measures to ensure the Israeli occupation’s compliance with all its obligations under international law and international legitimacy resolutions, including the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, and to work to achieve justice and international protection for the Palestinian people, and to end the Israeli occ
upation and colonial settlement on their land.

It stressed that the Palestinian issue is always a priority on its agenda and political efforts, especially during the 79th UNGA, expressing its support for the call to hold an international conference to implement the UN resolutions related to the Palestinian issue and the two-state solution within the framework of international efforts aimed at achieving just, lasting and comprehensive peace in the region.
