OIC Strongly Condemns Israeli Knessets Decision Rejecting Establishment of Palestinian State

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has expressed its strong condemnation of the Israeli Knessets approval of a draft law that rejects the establishment of a Palestinian state, considering that a furtherance of the policies of the colonial occupation and its continued violations of the rights of the Palestinian people, in blatant defiance of the principles of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.

In a statement on Thursday, the OIC reiterated, in this regard, its firm support for the two-state solution and its call on the international community to assume its responsibilities regarding the necessity of ending the Israeli occupation, achieving just, lasting and comprehensive peace in the region, and enabling the Palestinian people to exercise their legitimate national rights, including their right to return, self-determination and the establishment of an independent, sovereign state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

The OIC also condemned th
e storming of the extremist Minister of the Israeli occupation government, Itamar Ben-Gvir, this day into the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces, reiterating its condemnation of all Israeli occupation policies aimed at changing the geographical and demographic reality in the occupied city of Jerusalem, and attempts to undermine the existing historical and legal situation in Al-Aqsa Mosque.

It stressed shared responsibility towards defending it and working towards its return to Palestinian sovereignty, as it is an integral part of the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967, and the capital of the State of Palestine.

The OIC affirmed its support for all efforts made by the State of Palestine to fulfill the responsibility of the international community, including activating international justice mechanisms to hold Israel, the occupying power, accountable for the war crimes and genocide it commits, and to correct the historical injustice that is still directed a
gainst the Palestinian people.

The OIC , on the other hand, strongly condemned the actions of the Israeli occupation authorities aimed at undermining the status and role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), by intensifying direct attacks on its facilities, targeting its employees and obstructing its activities in the occupied Palestinian territories, considering this an extension of the serious Israeli violations of the UN Charter, resolutions, and its Convention on Privileges and Immunities.

The OIC emphasized its decisions issued by successive summits and ministerial councils calling for continuing to work with international actors in order to stop the continuing Israeli military aggression against the Palestinian people throughout the Palestinian land, and calling on all countries that have not recognized the State of Palestine to do so and support their right to full membership in United nations.
