Tokyo:Japan's Nikkei index rose at Thursday's close, marking its fourth consecutive session of gains. This increase was bolstered by the performance of companies involved in central processing unit components.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Nikkei climbed 0.76 percent, reaching 65,513.99 points. However, the broader TOPIX index experienced a decline, falling 0.39 percent to 4,075.3 points.
Shares of Ibiden, which manufactures central processing unit components, surged by 14.57 percent. Similarly, shares of Socionext, Meiko Electronics, and Ushio increased by more than 10 percent.
Advantest, known for its chip-testing equipment, saw its shares rise by 3.15 percent, while Tokyo Electron, a manufacturer of chip equipment, experienced a 1.54 percent increase in its share price.
Conversely, the decline in bank shares put downward pressure on the TOPIX index. Meanwhile, the yield on Japan's 10-year government bonds rose to 3.075 percent, reaching its highest point since August 1996.
