Manama, Nasser AI Research and Development Center (NAIRDC), the RandD Arm of Nasser Vocational training Centre, has taken a significant leap forward by achieving compliance with the ISO/IEC 23053:2022 standard. This internationally recognized standard establishes a framework for the responsible development and deployment of AI systems, placing NAIRDC at the forefront of ethical and trustworthy AI practices in the region.
Dr. Abdulla Naser Al Noaimi, CEO of the Nasser Vocational Training Centre (NVTC) underscored the significance of achieving this accomplishment, which reflects the commitment to develop AI solutions that prioritize ethical principles, human values, and societal well-being. By adhering to the ISO 23053:2022 standard, NAIRDC positions Bahrain as a leader in the responsible development and deployment of AI technologies in the region.
Dr. Jassim Haji, NAIRDC’s Executive Advisor emphasized that achieving compliance with the ISO/IEC 23053:2022 standard demands a multipronged approach from NAIRDC,
requiring transparency in AI system development and function, data usage, and potential risks. This ensures accountability for the actions of AI creations and fosters fairness by mitigating bias and preventing discrimination. Data privacy and security are paramount, with the standard dictating best practices for user data protection and AI system security.
It is important to note that this achievement not only placed NAIRDC at the top of the leaderboard in the region’s AI sector, but it also reinforces the trust in the AI global technologies’ standards that NAIRDC provides and paves the way for a future where AI technologies are harnessed for the benefit of all.
