MSDF Participates in 42nd UNESCO General Conference

Doha, The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF) is participating in the 42nd session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), with a delegation headed by Assistant Undersecretary for Social Development Affairs at MSDF Fahd Mohammed Al Khayarin.

The delegation is partaking within the Social and Human Sciences sector (SHS) of the Social Transformations (MOST) Programme, the process by which leaders and organizations develop social, economic, political, environmental, and cultural processes and activities in a given society.

The ministry said in a statement that managing social transformations is conducted by analyzing social challenges, predicting future social trends, and developing effective strategies to achieve the desired change.

It added that these strategies manifest as media and awareness campaigns, training, education, social organization, and cooperations with civil society, as well as local and international partners.

MSDF noted that social transformation is a complex and long-term process, requiring a lot of work and cooperation among governments, organizations, communities, and individuals in order to achieve the desired change, naming some issues that leaders and organizations could work on, such as gender equality, the environment, developing societal sustainability, and overcoming racial and social discrimination.

The Ministry said that the State of Qatar attached great importance to the Social Transformations Programme in order to understand local social challenges, identify positive social transformation opportunities, and enhance international cooperation, the exchange of expertise, inclusiveness and participation, multiculturalism, technological transformation and innovation, and adaptability towards future challenges.
