Morocco Launches Construction Work on Largest Seawater Desalination Plant on African Continent

Rabat, Morocco announced the start of construction work on a seawater desalination plant in the west of the country, the largest of its kind on the African continent, with an annual production capacity of 300 million cubic meters.

The Maghreb Arab Press (MAP) said that the Casablanca seawater desalination plant project will be completed in two phases, and upon completion, it will serve about 7.5 million people.

The station will be built on a 50-hectare site for 6.5 billion dirhams and will supply the cities of Casablanca, Settat, Berrechid, Bir Jdid, and the surrounding regions with drinking water.
