Moroccan Navy Rescues 59 Illegal Immigrants

The Moroccan Navy rescued 59 illegal immigrants from drowning in the south of the country.

A Moroccan naval unit rescued 59 illegal immigrants 64 km north-west of the port of Tan-Tan in the south of the country. They were facing difficulties on board a rubber boat in a deteriorating condition, Moroccan Navy reported in a statement.

The rescued people, including 13 women and 11 minors, from sub-Saharan Africa intended to head to the Canary Islands.

The migrants received the necessary aid before being handed over to the competent authorities to carry out administrative procedures.

Moroccan authorities constantly announce their thwarting of illegal immigration operations across its coasts extending on the Atlantic Ocean, as migrants intend going to the Canary Islands near the southern coast of the country.
