MOPH Marks Seventh Qatari Patient Safety Week

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) is celebrating the seventh Qatar Patient Safety Week, 17-23 September, with the theme “Safe maternal and newborn care”

In this context, MOPH is launching a virtual awareness campaign aimed at raising awareness among healthcare providers and the public, in addition to organizing a virtual conference on patient safety and the health sector’s resilience and ability to deal with various challenges, in addition to spreading patient safety awareness messages on social media platforms with a focus on the theme of this year’s celebration.

Several landmarks in Qatar will also be illuminated in orange on September 17, 2021, in conjunction with the World Patient Safety Day, as a symbolic gesture in recognition of the central role of patient safety efforts in countries seeking to achieve universal health coverage and safe maternal and newborn care.

The 7th Qatar Patient Safety Week is a national initiative organized by the MOPH as an awareness-raising channel to disseminate patient safety concepts among all healthcare providers as well as the public in Qatar.

This year, Qatar Patient Safety Week aims to engage healthcare leaders and providers in developing effective and innovative policies, strategies and measures to advance maternal and neonatal safety, as well as promoting communication between these leaders, healthcare providers and patients, through education and awareness raising, as well as advocating urgent and sustainable action by all stakeholders to scale up efforts and ensure safe maternal and newborn care, particularly during childbirth, endorse and adopt best practices at the point of care to protect all women and newborns from avoidable risks and harms during childbirth.
