AMMAN: The Ministry of Municipality has actively participated in a regional forum focused on “Accelerating Food Systems Transformation in the Arab Region,” which took place in Amman, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The event brought together key stakeholders to discuss the future of food systems within the Arab region.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Ministry’s delegation was led by Assistant Undersecretary for Agriculture and Food Security Affairs, Eng. Fahad Mohammed Al Qahtani. The forum served as a platform to explore opportunities for enhancing food system transformations through effective governance, implementation strategies, and regional cooperation.
The gathering featured presentations on various projects and strategies aimed at transforming food systems in the Arab region, with participants exchanging valuable experiences. Notably, Dr. Masoud Jarallah Al-Marri, Director of the Food Security Department at the Ministry of Municipality, contributed to a dialogue session focusing on financing the
transformation of food systems. He outlined Qatar’s strategic approach to financing sustainable food systems, sharing principles and development proposals for international financing systems.
The session also saw contributions from experts and researchers from Oxford University, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Food Programme (WFP), and the World Bank (WB), highlighting a collaborative effort to address the challenges and opportunities within the Arab food systems.
