Doha: The Ministry of Labour, represented by the Occupational Safety and Health Department, in cooperation with the Workers’ Support and Insurance Fund and the National Cyber Security Agency, organized an awareness seminar today for delivery motorcycle riders. The seminar aimed to train participants on preventing heat stress risks at work and in accommodation during the summer, maintaining mental and psychological well-being, understanding road safety guidelines, and increasing awareness of cybersecurity and its role in protecting information.
According to Qatar News Agency, the seminar is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to promote a culture of occupational safety and health and to provide safe and healthy working environments for all workers. This initiative aligns with national laws and regulations and follows internationally recognized best practices in this field.
During the seminar, officials from the Ministry’s Occupational Safety and Health Department delivered a detailed presentation on road safety guidelines for delivery motorcycle riders, especially during peak hours and extreme heat. They emphasized compliance with traffic rules to minimize accidents and ensure the safety of both riders and the community.
Participants were informed about the official decision on restricted summer working hours, banning work from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM, effective from tomorrow, 1 June, until 15 September 2025. This measure aims to ensure workers’ safety and protect them from the dangers of heat stress.
Attendees learned to identify early symptoms of heat stress and the importance of following health guidelines during the summer, particularly for field workers exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods. The seminar highlighted the need for proper protective measures to prevent heatstroke and encouraged sound practices for mitigating heat stress in various work environments. Demonstrations on correct first aid techniques for heat stress-related workplace injuries were also featured.
The Workers’ Support and Insurance Fund delivered awareness lectures focused on workers’ mental well-being, highlighting major mental health challenges in the workplace. The session emphasized the importance of psychological stability in enhancing efficiency and productivity and offered practical tips on managing daily stress and dealing with pressure at work and in accommodation healthily.
The National Cyber Security Agency contributed to the seminar by presenting digital awareness content focusing on cyber threats workers may encounter and ways to protect mobile devices and personal information while using delivery applications or on the move. The session showcased key cybersecurity practices that enhance digital awareness and data security among workers.
Through such initiatives, held regularly throughout the year, the Ministry of Labour aims to reinforce occupational safety and health standards and principles, ensuring compliance with awareness procedures and guidelines that guarantee the safety of all workers across various sectors and workplaces.
