Ministry of Endowments Publishes 3rd Issue of International Scientific Journal “Al-Waqf”

Doha: The Centre for Endowment Studies of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs has published the 3rd issue of the international peer reviewed journal “Al Waqf”, translated as endowment. The issue includes four qualitative and analytical studies, along with the research that directly touch the reality.

HE Director of General Directorate of Endowments Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al-Thani, who is also the journal’s Editor-in-Chief, said the journal proved its privileged standing among academic and research circles. He vowed to move forward to strengthen the journal’s pioneering role in the peer-reviewed research that unequivocally touch the needs of reality.

His Excellency highlighted that the new issue addresses a contemporary incident, namely the digital assets endowment which have become funds and assets worth trillions of dollars in the world of today and ensures the adaptation of these assets to the Sharia rules, with emphasis on how endowment institutions can further utilize these
assets.

Additionally, the new issue comprises Moroccan, Gulf and Asian contemporary experiences, with each one of them tackling different aspects, primarily women’s endowments in Kuwait, a qualitative and analytical study from 1821 to 1961, a historical study that touches on the role performed by Kuwaiti women in the endowment giving, with the second experience focusing on public endowments investment partnership in Morocco, in terms of using endowment real estate and contemporary financing alternatives. Also, it studies contractual investment issues that set out problems and lay out solutions.

The third experience is laser-focused on investigating problems and setting recommendations for better management of endowment disputes in Sri Lanka. The study addresses the legal and administrative aspect to figure out the endowment status and the suggestions accordingly, His Excellency highlighted.

He added that with the start of the journalist’s new year, the center aspires to have contributed to serving the Isla
mic endowment and its institutions through publishing peer-reviewed research to be available at the hands of beneficiaries, in addition to imparting the endowment knowledge and updates to the scientific movement and endowment institutions.
