Ministry of Education and Higher Education Marks 49th Arab Deaf Week

Doha: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) has highlighted the challenges facing the deaf community in the Arab world coinciding the 49th Arab Deaf Week.

Marked in the last week of April each year, the event aims to raise societal awareness of the rights, talents and multi-field potentials of the deaf community and the best ways to support them.

The MOEHE’s Audio Education Complex marks this year’s edition under the theme of providing job opportunities for deaf men and women in the public and private sectors. The Complex is holding an array of artistic, theatrical, and sporting activities as well as educational workshops and multiple competitions that showcase the deaf people’s multi-area creative abilities and enhance their self-confidence.

With a keen eye for the deaf students, the Audio Education Complex and specialized schools have offered a plethora of services designated for students with hearing disabilities including educational services that leverage relevant teaching methodologi
es. Among those services also come employing sign language in communication skills – individual or group sessions aimed at developing students linguistic, oral and audio capacities.
