Nairobi: HE Minister of Environment and Climate Change Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie took part in the high-level segment of the seventh session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-7) on Thursday. The session is scheduled to occur from December 11-12 at the headquarters of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi, Kenya. The theme for this year’s session is ‘Advancing sustainable solutions for a resilient planet,’ and it has seen wide participation from representatives of various countries and international organizations.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Minister of Environment and Climate Change presented the State of Qatar’s statement to the Assembly, addressing several draft resolutions. These resolutions focus on climate change, pollution reduction, waste management, biodiversity protection, and the sustainability of natural resources. Additionally, the medium-term plan of UNEP was adopted during the session.
The participation of the State of Qatar in UNEA-7 reflects its commitment to enhancing international cooperation in addressing escalating environmental challenges. It also supports UN efforts aimed at environmental protection and sustainable development, while reinforcing Qatar’s commitment to multilateral action on global environmental issues.
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change expressed that the outcomes of this session are expected to play a crucial role in guiding international environmental actions in the upcoming years. This will be achieved by supporting international partnerships and enhancing joint efforts to attain sustainability and protect ecosystems.
