Mikdad receives credentials of Adam Abdelmoula as UN Resident Coordinator

Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Fayssal Mikdad, received Monday a copy of credentials of Adam Abdelmoula as UN Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in the Syrian Arab Republic.

Talks during the meeting dealt with cooperation relations between the Syrian government and the UN organizations operating in Syria, and the importance of upgrading this cooperation to meet the existing humanitarian challenges, which contributes to supporting humanitarian work and alleviating the suffering of the Syrian citizens.

Mikdad stressed the importance of meeting the humanitarian needs facing the Syrian people due to the earthquake, the terrorist war, and the unilateral coercive economic measures illegally imposed by the US and the West.

Mikdad pointing out the need to focus on implementing early recovery projects and supporting the energy sector to rehabilitate damaged structures, services and reconstruction.

Mikdad stressed the need to stop politicizing the humanitarian issue practiced by some Western countries through the UN to achieve their political agendas.

In turn, Abdelmoula noted that the scale of the humanitarian challenges is great, and that the role of the UN in Syria will focus on helping the Syrian people to rise again, accelerating the recovery process in various sectors that affect the various aspects of Syrian citizens’ daily lives, and delivering humanitarian aid for those who are in need.
