Magnitude 5.6 Earthquake Strikes Off Central America Coast

An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 was struck off the coast of Central America.

The quake was at a depth of 10 kilometers, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said.

Light to moderate shaking was probably felt throughout southern Guatemala and eastern El Salvador.

There have been no immediate reports of casualties or damage and no tsunami warnings have been issued.

Central America is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire where many tectonic plates meet and cause frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
