Beirut: Lebanese President, General Joseph Aoun, met Tuesday with Greek Minister of Defense, Nikos Dendias, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation. President Aoun briefed the Greek Minister on the situation in southern Lebanon and the role of the Lebanese Army deployed in the villages and towns from which the Israeli occupation forces recently withdrew.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Lebanese President highlighted that Israel’s continued violations of Lebanese territory, its failure to withdraw from the five hills it continues to occupy, and its refusal to release Lebanese prisoners constitute a violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1,701 and the agreement reached last January.
Minister Dendias, on his part, expressed Greece’s readiness to provide necessary support to the Lebanese Armed Forces, enabling them to benefit from Greece’s experience in various military fields.
