Labour Minister: Royal pardon provides opportunity for reintegration into society

Manama, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, the Minister of Labour, hailed the issuance of the royal decree by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, pardoning 1548 inmates.

Minister Humaidan emphasised that this gesture signified compassion, and underscored the spirit of forgiveness and tolerance that he has consistently cultivated throughout his reign.

The royal pardon offers a fresh start, providing the pardoned inmates with a unique opportunity to reintegrate into society and contribute positively and with a sense of national responsibility towards the country’s development, the minister said.

Furthermore, the Minister commended the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the Ministry of Labour to provide training programmes and employment opportunities for those included in the royal pardon.

Humaidan also reiterated the Ministry of Labour’s commitment to enhancing the living standards of those pardoned by the King. In this regard,
he said the ministry will work diligently to present suitable job opportunities and provide a range of training and qualification programmes to facilitate their integration into the labor market. This includes on-job training, apprenticeships, , offering appropriate vocational training, and providing professional guidance, as well as leveraging various other services provided by the Ministry.

The Minister highlighted that this royal pardon, which coincided with the Silver Jubilee of His Majesty’s reign and the celebrations of Eid Al-Fitr, was a clear manifestation of the commitment of the Kingdom of Bahrain to upholding the principles of human rights. It also underscored the government’s ongoing efforts to launch initiatives aimed at ensuring the active participation of all citizens in the comprehensive development process.
