King Charles III of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland began Wednesday a state visit to France, after a six-month delay, to celebrate the relaunch of French-British friendship.

The French presidency (Elysee) stated that the three-day visit is part of the growing closeness in relations between Britain and France after an initial period of re-engagement.

Tomorrow, King Charles III will start the political segment of the visit with a speech before the French Senate.

During a bilateral summit held in March 2023, French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak started a new stage of relations, ending several years of bilateral tension concerning the UK’s exit from the European Union (Brexit) and issues involving fishing and immigration.
