First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS), President of the General Sports Authority (GSA) and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, praised the high level of the competitions in the current season of the “Khalid bin Hamad Gold Generation League”.
He was speaking as he attended yesterday the league’s handball cup final which was held between Barbar and Al-Dair clubs on the court of Bahrain Table Tennis Association at the Isa bin Rashid Halls Complex, in Isa Sport City. The match was attended by GSA Deputy President His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Cabinet Affairs Ministry Undersecretary and BOC Deputy President, His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, GSA Chief Executive Dr. Abdulrahman Askar, President of Bahrain Tennis Table Association Shaikha Hayet bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Bahrain Handball Association President Ali Isa Ishaqi, and invitees.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa congratulated Barbar Club on clinching the trophy after beating Al-Dair 40 to 28, thus winning both the league’s title and the cup. He also praised the outstanding level of runner-up Al-Dair, wishing its players every success in the forthcoming competitions.
His Highness commended the efforts of GSA, the sport associations and clubs to achieve the desired goals of the “Khalid bin Hamad Gold Generation League”, stressing that developing the age categories will have a positive impact in the next years in preparing strong and competitive teams capable of making achievements. He also praised the young handball talents, lauding the role of Bahrain Handball Association in exploring and honing them to prepare them for the national teams.
