from the diplomatic corps, expressing his happiness with this visit, which reflects the solidarity of the countries of the world with the Jericho Governorate and the Jordan Valley, which is still suffering from the repressive practices and measures carried out by the occupation authorities, including the isolation of the region, the confiscation of lands, the demolition of homes, the daily abuse of citizens, and the almost daily invasions of the Jericho Governorate, its camps, and its villages.
The governor also addressed the violations committed by settlers in the West Bank, especially in the Jordan Valley villages and Bedouin communities.
Governor Hamayel said that the occupation authorities, through their practices and procedures, seek to undermine the Palestinian presence in the Jericho and Jordan Valley Governorates and create facts on the ground that will prolong the life of the Israeli occupation of this vital and strategic region, which we Palestinians consider to be the vital depth of our future Pa
lestinian state.
The governor called on the international community to assume its responsibilities towards stopping settlement projects in the Jordan Valley, land confiscation and the siege on the governorate.
The governor pointed out that the Jericho Governorate and the security and civil establishment are seeking to work despite all the harassment to impose security and stability, but the occupation is not concerned with that and is working to tighten the noose on the lives of the Palestinian citizen and eliminate any hope for the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Governor Hamayel thanked all ambassadors and consuls for their presence and support for the Palestinian people against the Israeli occupation policy towards the Palestinian citizen, pointing out the importance of this tour for the delegation of the diplomatic corps accredited to the State of Palestine to witness the occupation procedures and convey the suffering of the Palestinians to their governments in order to stop the oppressive Israel
i policies against the Palestinian people.
Ambassador Dr. Ahmed Al-Deek, Advisor to the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stressed that this visit is an important opportunity to inform ambassadors, consuls general and representatives of the diplomatic corps about the organization’s rights against the people of Jericho Governorate and their private and public properties and the ongoing attacks, adding that these violations are clear to international law, international humanitarian law and international human rights law, especially the Fourth Geneva Convention, which must be applied in the occupied territories of the State of Palestine.
At the end of the tour, the diplomatic delegation visited the Bedouin communities near the Auja Spring, north of Jericho, to see the suffering of the citizens due to the occupation’s measures and the repeated attempts by settlers to seize their water and expel them from their areas, and burn their homes amidst difficult and arduous living conditions.
The Bedouin commun
ities demanded that reports be submitted to their governments about what the Palestinian people are being subjected to.
