Istanbul: Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al Sudani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed regional developments during a phone call on Sunday.
According to Qatar News Agency, both leaders emphasized the importance of coordinating and unifying efforts to enhance the region’s security and stability. They jointly condemned the Israeli attack on Iran, signaling a mutual stance against external aggressions in the region.
The Iraqi Prime Minister reiterated his country’s strong opposition to any violations of its sovereignty and airspace, labeling such actions as blatant breaches of international law. Al Sudani also conveyed Iraq’s support for a meeting of Islamic countries’ foreign ministers in Istanbul to address recent developments.
In response, Erdogan expressed Turkey’s support for Iraq’s sovereignty and the Iraqi government’s initiatives to safeguard its territory and avoid entanglement in regional conflicts.
