Doha: Iraq’s Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities has announced the formation of a committee dedicated to recovering the Iraqi National Archives from the United States. A Ministry official said in a statement that negotiations are underway with American officials on this issue.
According to Qatar News Agency, the official noted that all documents related to the archives represent part of the Iraqi civilization, and that this archive is an Iraqi legacy that must be returned to its original homeland. The Iraqi archives were previously taken out to the US in 2003 for maintenance purposes, but have not been returned yet.
