The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) have arrested since yesterday evening until today morning at least 18 Palestinian civilians in the West Bank, including two students, two freed captives and a child.
In a joint statement, Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said that the arrests took place across the governorates of Al-Khalil, Ramallah, Nablus, Bethlehem and Occupied Jerusalem (Al-Quds), adding that these arrests were accompanied by widespread sabotage and destruction of Palestinian civilians’ homes, as well as threats and severe beatings practiced on detainees and their families.
Since the beginning of the ongoing Israeli genocide on the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7, 2023, the number of arrests in the occupied West Bank has risen to at least 9,720, the statement added, indicating that these arrests included those who were arrested from homes or through military checkpoints, as well as those who were forced to surrender themselves under pressure, a
nd those who were held hostage.
The IOF continues to implement systematic arrests, as one of its most prominent established policies, which escalated in an unprecedented manner after October 2023, not only in terms of the number of detainees, but also in terms of the level of crimes committed.
