Inflation in Eurozone Rises to 3.2 Percent in August

Brussels: The Eurozone's annual inflation rate rose to 3.2 percent in August 2026, up from 2.9 percent in July, according to data released today by Eurostat.

According to Qatar News Agency, Eurostat said energy prices recorded the largest increase among the inflation components in August, rising 14.3 percent compared to 10.3 percent in July. Services inflation slowed to 3.0 percent, while prices of non-energy industrial goods increased to 1.2 percent from 0.9. Excluding energy and food, the inflation rate stood at 2.4 percent in August, down from 2.5 percent in July, indicating a relative easing of underlying price pressures despite the sharp rise in energy costs.

Among major Eurozone economies, inflation rose to 2.9 percent from 2.8 percent in Germany and to 2.6 percent from 2.4 percent in France, while surging to 4.6 percent from 3.9 percent in Spain. It also climbed to 3.2 percent from 2.9 percent in Italy. In contrast, the Netherlands saw its inflation rate fall to 2.8 percent in August, down from 3.0 percent in July.

Consequently, Eurozone inflation remained above the European Central Bank's 2 percent target, as rising energy prices continued to impact the overall price level.
