Industry Ministry speaks at AMCHAM Bahrain annual event

Manama, The American Chamber of Commerce in Bahrain (AmCham Bahrain) held an annual general ceremony where Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, participated as a keynote speaker. The event was attended by Qays Al Zubi, President of AmCham Bahrain, and several officials.

The Minister emphasised the deep-rooted historical relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States of America, that flourished over many decades with mutual respect and cooperation, noting the keenness to continue enhancing existing bilateral cooperation in various fields through joint visits and agreements.

He reviewed several topics, including the Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which contributed significantly and effectively to trade growth, as well as increasing the proportion of agricultural exports from the United States of America to the Kingdom of Bahrain, looking forward to enhancing the benefit of these relations in the future in various sectors, including technology, finance and tourism.

The Mini
ster added that the two countries have seen remarkable growth in bilateral trade, in 2022, US goods and services trade with Bahrain totalled an estimated USD3 billion, with U.S. exports reaching USD1.8bn and imports at USD1bn. He said: “The FTA has already proven to be a catalyst for growth, but we are just scratching the surface of the potential of the agreement, we need more businesses to leverage in trade and investments.”

On his part, Qays Al Zubi, President of AmCham Bahrain, noted that this annual event underscores the commitment of the American Chamber of Commerce Bahrain to strengthening the strong ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the US.
