An Indian passenger plane made an emergency landing Friday at Erzurum airport, eastern Turkiye, due to a bomb alert.
The governor of Erzurum Mustafa Ciftci, said in statements that Erzurum’s airspace is closed to flights, noting that explosives experts entered the plane, which was heading to Germany, to inspect it after all its passengers disembarked.
The local official did not indicate whether the inspectors found the bomb or not, saying only that things are under control.
In a related context, Vistara Airlines, the operator of the flight, issued a statement regarding the emergency landing, saying that “the Mumbai-Frankfurt flight was diverted to Turkiye (Erzurum Airport ) for security reasons, and landed safely. (QNA)
