iGA CE inspects Household Income and Expenditure survey implementation

Manama, Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), visited the field survey team and a few families participating in the 2024 Household Income and Expenditure Survey in an effort to view the activities of the survey.

Duaa Sultan Alharban, iGA Deputy Chief Executive of Statistics and Population Registry, and several officials from iGA and Muharraq Governorate, were present.

The field visit aimed at inspecting the progress of the survey in the Muharraq Governorate and in other parts of the country, Al Qaed highlighted the study’s adherence to international standards, and the role it will play in supporting government objectives, in line with the directives of General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology (MCICT).

The initiative aims to build an accurate family database to facilitate decision-making, policy formulation, and the execution of programs aimed
at national growth and development, including innovative services that meet the needs of families and help improve their quality of life.

Al Qaed expressed his appreciation to the families that participated in the survey for their support by providing accurate data. Their cooperation with the survey team will help advance the kingdom, including key sectors of its economy.

Al Qaed reviewed the survey’s implementation, examining the methodologies followed by the research team to ensure their compliance to international standards and their dedication to data confidentiality throughout all phases. He highlighted his appreciation to the participating families, assessing their satisfaction and seeking their feedback with regard to the survey process and their experience with the researchers, including suggestions for improvement.

At the end of the visit Al Qaed renewed his appreciation to all families, both citizens and residents, for their participation in the survey since its launch in January, expressing his
hope for their continued cooperation in supporting the survey’s objectives and their contributions to its success.

The 2024 Household Income and Expenditure Survey aimed at gathering data from a random sample of approximately 6,000 households through 35 field researchers. It examines family expenditure patterns in relation to popular goods and services. This will consequently inform the development of economic, social, and environmental government plans and programs. Selected households will be contacted by the survey supervision call center from the number 17878070. A researcher will visit each household four times a month to support the completion of electronic and paper forms.
