Khartoum: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Sudan said missing persons since the outbreak of armed conflict have reached 8,000.
According to Qatar News Agency, ICRC spokesperson Adnan Azam reported that the figure since April 15, 2023, stands at 8,000, while the total number of missing across Sudan's conflicts is about 11,000. He highlighted that dialogue continues with all parties involved to ensure safe and unhindered humanitarian access, which is crucial for protecting and assisting affected communities. Azam emphasized that this effort is essential under international humanitarian law.
The United Nations has described the situation in Sudan as the world's largest humanitarian crisis, with approximately 12 million people displaced and half the population facing food insecurity.
