His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, welcomed the Human Rights and Democracy Report 2022 published by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on Thursday, 13 July 2023.
The report removed the Kingdom of Bahrain from the list of human rights priority countries, which reflects the Kingdom’s human rights achievements and its positive trajectory in this field due to its promotion of modern constitutional and legal human rights provisions.
His Royal Highness commended Bahrain’s human rights progress and achievements attained through the Kingdom’s comprehensive development plan led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
His Royal Highness affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to relevant charters and laws has helped preserve human rights.
HRH, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, noted that the Kingdom of Bahrain continues to adopt initiatives that promote human rights and highlighted the importance of respecting human rights, which are rooted in Bahrain’s culture, identity, and Islamic law.
His Royal Highness highlighted the role of the Council of Commissioners of the National Institution for Human Rights in promoting and protecting human rights.
HRH, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, expressed pride and thanks for the commendation from His Majesty the King for the government’s successful consolidating, enforcement and raising awareness on human rights.
His Royal Highness also expressed appreciation for the commendation Bahrain received regarding the participation of citizens in decision-making in the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives, as well as the active participation of women in this regard.
The report also highlighted Bahrain’s efforts and global humanitarian initiatives that spread tolerance, peace, and coexistence among people and promote dialogue between different religions, cultures and civilisations.
His Royal Highness affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain will hold on to its heritage, noting that the Bahraini society is historically known for its coexistence, brotherhood, and pluralism.
On this occasion, HRH, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, commended the historic relations that date back more than 200 years between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom, as well as the distinguished strategic partnership and wide-ranging collaborations between the two Kingdoms.
