Manama, Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, highlighted the significant role of young professionals, particularly in the engineering and service sectors, in advancing the kingdom’s progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, particularly Goal 11, which aims to make cities inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.
She affirmed that, under the directives of His Majesty the King and the support of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Bahrain prioritises investing in its youth.
The minister emphasised that Bahraini youth are a key pillar and driving force behind the development projects and programmes in the kingdom, noting their creative potential, which has enabled them to excel across various fields.
She also pointed out that the UN-Habitat’s choice of “Engaging Youth in Shaping a Better Urban Future” as this year’s World Habitat Day theme underscores the global focus on youth in urban development as a top priority for b
oth international and government agendas.
Al Rumaihi added that the ministry’s engineers are the main contributors to implementing housing projects designed to meet the highest standards, providing a sustainable urban environment. She noted that Bahrain’s housing projects, particularly new cities, have been recognised at international forums.
