Manama, Nov. 3 (BNA): Under the auspices of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the closing ceremony of the sixth edition of the “Nasser bin Hamad Marine Heritage Season”, organised by the Bahrain Inherited Traditional Sports Committee (Mawrooth), will be held tomorrow at the outdoor arena of the Bahrain National Museum.
HM King Hamad will attend the finals of two prestigious cups, namely the King’s cups for the rowing race of the 30-foot heritage boats, and the joint Gulf race of the traditional 22-foot sailing boats.
On the occasion, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, extended his deepest pride in HM the King’s patronage of the closing ceremony of the annual Nasser bin Hamad Marine Heritage Season, reflecting the royal interest in such noble events aimed at maintaining an integral part of the kingdom’s authentic heritage.
His Highness affirmed that Bahrain boasts a rich and diverse heritage dating back thousands of years, stressing the importance of such initiatives that contribute to preserving and highlighting the inherited traditional heritage, being among the main components of the national cultural identity.
The Nasser bin Hamad Marine Heritage Season is an annual event organised by the Bahrain Inherited Traditional Sports Committee to revive the kingdom’s marine heritage for which Bahrain has been famous since ancient times, making it an important regional centre for pearl fishing.
The closing ceremony of the sixth Nasser bin Hamad Marine Heritage Season will feature a number of accompanying events, such as open water swimming and the free diving competition without using modern equipment, in addition to various popular shows related to the marine heritage of the Kingdom.
