Manama, The IRONMAN 70.3 Middle East Championship Bahrain kicked off today, in the presence of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, and His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports First Deputy Chairman, General Sports Authority Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President.
The organising committee of IRONMAN Bahrain held the “IRONKIDS” championship in which over 300 under 17 participants competed.
HH Shaikh Nasser and HH Shaikh Khalid attended the “IRONKIDS” races in which their children HH Shaikha Sheema bint Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Faisal bin Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Hamdan bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa and HH Shaikh Salman bin Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa participated.
On the occasion, HH Shaikh Nasser asserted that the Iron Kids championships contribute to promoting the sports culture among children and instilling the passion to continue practising the sport of triathlon in them.
His Highness indicated that the massive participation in Iron Kids confirms the outstanding success of the event, affirming his unwavering support for young athletes to motivate them and prepare them to bring about landmark achievements for the kingdom in the future.
The main races of IRONMAN Bahrain 2023 will be held on Friday. It will attract participants from various countries and include swimming, cycling and running.
