Doha:Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), part of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development, has been ranked 126th in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings for 2027, making it the highest-ranked university in the Arab world.
According to Qatar News Agency, this achievement highlights HBKU's progress in enhancing its academic and research capabilities. The university's recognition comes as it continues to grow its academic community by welcoming more students and introducing innovative programs that align with national priorities and future societal needs.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings assess research-intensive universities based on key performance pillars, including Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, International Outlook, and Industry Engagement. HBKU's performance underscores the strength of its research and its ability to translate knowledge into practical applications.
HBKU President Dr. Ahmad Hasnah commented on the ranking, stating that it reflects the dedication of the university's faculty, researchers, students, and staff, as well as the enabling vision of Qatar Foundation. He emphasized that the university's mission is focused on driving purposeful innovation and nurturing local intellectual capacity to serve Qatar's national priorities and contribute to the global knowledge economy. This milestone, he added, reaffirms the potential of a multidisciplinary university rooted in the Arab region to deliver impactful research globally.
