Doha: Gold prices edged lower on Tuesday as uncertainty over the conflict in the Middle East and lingering inflation concerns kept investors cautious ahead of a series of US employment reports due later this week that could offer fresh clues on the Federal Reserve's policy path. Spot gold fell 0.3% to $4,029.84 an ounce, while US gold futures for August delivery slipped 0.5% to $4,029.00 an ounce.
According to Qatar News Agency, among other precious metals, spot silver declined 0.8% to $57.18 an ounce, platinum fell 1.6% to $1,616.42 an ounce, and palladium dropped 1.8% to $1,251.16 an ounce. Investors are closely monitoring the geopolitical developments in the Middle East, which have contributed to market volatility and impacted commodity prices, including gold.
The focus is also on the upcoming US employment reports, which are expected to provide insights into the health of the labor market and influence the Federal Reserve's monetary policy decisions. The data could potentially impact the direction of gold prices, as any signs of economic strength might prompt the Fed to adjust its policy stance.
