The Georgian Patriarchate has praised the Global Conference of Human Fraternity held recently in Abu Dhabi, which was attended by His Holiness Pope Francis, Head of the Catholic Church, and His Eminence Dr. Ahmad el-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al Azhar Al Sharif, and resulted in the signing of the Declaration on Human Fraternity.
This came during a dinner hosted by the Georgian Patriarchate in the presence of Issa Abdullah Al Nuaimi, UAE Ambassador to Georgia, a number of ambassadors accredited to the country along with a number of Georgian citizens.
During the ceremony, Al Nuaimi highlighted that the UAE had the honour to host this fraternal meeting based on its responsibility in promoting peace, tolerance, and coexistence among human societies. The meeting, he said, aimed at opening new opportunities and hopes for peace for mankind away from conflicts and wars.
In this regard, he referred to the announcement of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan of 2019 as the 'Year of Tolerance' to help make the United Arab Emirates a global capital for tolerance.
The Georgian Patriarchate has participated in the Global Conference of Human Fraternity with a high-level delegation, joining 700 intellectuals and representatives of various religions from around the world.
