GCC Underscores Keenness on Preserving Sudan’s Security, Stability

Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassem Mohamed Al Budaiwi met Sunday with Special Envoy of the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council in Sudan, Ambassador Dafallah Al Haj Ali, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Riyadh.

During the meeting, Al Budaiwi called for calm, giving priority to the national interest, and stopping the military escalation in a way that preserves the capabilities and gains of Sudan, stressing the GCC’s keenness on Sudan’s security, safety, and stability, preserving the cohesion of the state and its institutions, and supporting Sudan in facing all challenges to achieve the aspirations of its people.

He praised the humanitarian role played by Saudi Arabia and all GCC countries in the current crisis in Sudan, noting the efforts of the Arab League, the Quartet, and all international and regional efforts to reach a consensus between the political forces, ending the crisis, and achieving security and stability in Sudan.
