GCC Secretary-General Stresses Importance of Strengthening GCC-UK Ties

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-Genera Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi stressed the importance of following up on and the strengthening of GCC-UK ties, including the GCC-UK Free Trade Agreement; an essential element of their strategic partnership, contributing to the achievement of mutual interests.

This came during the meeting of the GCC Secretary-General on Saturday with the Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia, and United Nations at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office Lord Tariq Ahmad, on the sidelines of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

During the meeting, both sides discussed several topics, most notably they followed-up on the pace of negotiations on the GCC-UK Free Trade Agreement, in addition to the outcomes of the ministerial meeting of the GCC countries with the UK.

Both sides also reviewed the latest developments of mutual interest regionally and internationally, especially in relation to enhancing regional and global security and stability.
