Riyadh, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), participated virtually in the 26th meeting of the GCC Ministers of Information.
The meeting was chaired by Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Al Harrasi, Omani Minister of Information and Chairman of the current session, and with the participation of the Ministers of Information of the GCC countries.
The secretary general congratulated the ministers on the adoption by the esteemed GCC Supreme Council in its 43rd session of the general framework of the strategic plan for joint media cooperation of the GCC countries 2023-2030.
The strategic plan aims to set ambitious goals that display common aspirations to achieve a unified Gulf media vision, and it has been submitted to the Supreme Council of the leaders of the Council States from the Ministers’ 25th meeting.
Albudaiwi said that digital platforms need to find common controls for electronic media content, digital advertisements, and licenses in social media. He added that it has become necessary to activate the role of the missions of the GCC countries abroad and draw up a media plan that enables these missions to carry out the required tasks, including highlighting the process of Gulf action and integration between the Cooperation Council countries.
He also referred to the idea of creating a joint application for member agencies, which includes live broadcasting of various radio and television channels, archives of private photos and videos, and follow-up on social media networks of each news agency, to inform the people of the GCC countries about the news of the achievements of our blessed journey, in addition to the news published by the news agencies in member states.
The meeting discussed a number of topics of common interest on the agenda in the field of media in the GCC countries.
