GCC and China Address Iranian Attacks and Regional Security Concerns

Riyadh: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held discussions with the People's Republic of China on Thursday regarding the Iranian attacks on GCC member states and the implications of these attacks for regional security and stability.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting took place at the GCC headquarters in Riyadh and included senior GCC officials and representatives from the foreign ministries of member states. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation within the framework of the Joint Action Plan for 2023-2027.

The participants exchanged views on the future of Gulf-Chinese relations and addressed several regional political and security issues. Key topics included the security of maritime routes and navigation, energy security, and efforts to combat terrorism.

The meeting was described as part of the strategic bilateral partnership between the GCC and China and followed the outcomes of the first Gulf-Chinese Summit held in Riyadh in 2022. Both sides highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral relations to achieve common interests, maintaining dialogue and coordination on regional and international issues, and supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing security and stability in the region.
