Freed prisoner Jaabis begins her treatment journey in Jordan

Al-Qudsi – Ma’an – Freed Palestinian prisoner Israa Jaabis announced the start of her medical journey in Jordan, months after her release.

She said in a post on her Facebook page, ‘I have begun my treatment journey in brotherly Jordan. I hope to God that I will recover as soon as possible and with the least pain. I ask God to heal every patient, free every prisoner, and release every concerned person.’

Israa is one of the 10 oldest female prisoners in the occupation prisons. She served 8 years of her 11-year sentence on charges of attempting to kill an Israeli soldier.

On October 11, 2015, while she was returning from the city of Jericho to Jerusalem, near Al-Za’im checkpoint, her car broke down, so the occupation forces opened fire on the car, which led to the explosion of a gas cylinder it was in and the outbreak of a large fire, according to what her family reported regarding the details of the incident.

As a result, Israa suffered burns ranging from first to third degree, affecting 50% to 60% of her b
ody. She lost all the fingers on her hands, and her face was disfigured.

The occupation authorities prevented her from receiving the treatment she needed, and deliberately neglected her despite her need for 8 surgical operations.
