Amman, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a meeting with Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan.
The two ministers reviewed the unfolding development and continuing escalation in the Gaza Strip, in addition to the ongoing regional and global efforts aimed at reaching a ceasefire, protecting civilians, facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in Gaza and the provisions of their food, medicine, water, electricity and energy needs.
The two sides stressed the need to carry on efforts to end the escalation and reach calm, as well as work with the international community to put an end to the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, support the efforts of the Palestinian National Authority, advance the just and sustainable peace process in the Middle East, and achieve the aspirations of the Palestinian people for establishing their independent state in accordance with the two-state solution and the resolutions of international legitimacy.
They lauded the UN General Assembly’s adoption of the Jordan-initiated Arab resolution calling for an immediate and sustained humanitarian truce that would lead to a cessation of hostilities, protecting civilians, civilian objects and facilities, providing basic goods and services, as well as facilitating the immediate entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
